Stubby Privacy Policy
Stubby is an app published by Gremlin Garage ("we", "us"), available on Google Play and as a web app at gremlingarage.dev/apps/stubby/app/. This policy explains what information is handled when you use it.
The short version
Your purchases, subscriptions and receipt photos are stored on your device. If you sign in with Google, a copy is also stored in your own Google Drive. We, Gremlin Garage, never receive, see or store your Stubby data. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
Information stored on your device
Everything you enter, including purchases, subscriptions, receipt photos, notes and settings, is saved in the app's local storage on your device.
Google sign-in and Google Drive (optional)
You can choose to sign in with your Google account. If you do, Stubby asks Google for:
- Your name and email address, shown in Stubby's settings so you know which account is connected.
- Access to Stubby's own hidden app folder in your Google Drive (the
drive.appdatapermission). Stubby uses this to save a copy of your data and receipt photos so you can restore them and sync between devices. Stubby cannot see, open or change any of your other Google Drive files.
This data travels directly between your device and Google. It never passes through or is stored on Gremlin Garage's servers. Google handles it under the Google Privacy Policy, and the hidden folder counts towards your Google storage.
Stubby's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We don't use this data for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't let people read it.
To disconnect, tap Settings › Sign out in Stubby, or remove Stubby's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. To delete the Drive copy, use Settings › Delete everything while signed in, or in Google Drive go to Settings › Manage apps › Stubby › Delete hidden app data.
Camera and files
When you add a receipt photo, you choose to take a picture or pick a file. The image is resized on your device and stored with your data as described above. Stubby does not access your camera or files at any other time.
Notifications and calendar
Reminders are scheduled on your device. Calendar export creates an .ics file on your device, which you choose where to open or save.
Advertising, analytics and tracking
Stubby has no advertising. It does not include analytics or crash-reporting tools, and it does not track you across apps or websites.
In-app purchases
Stubby Pro is an optional one-off purchase processed entirely by Google Play under Google's terms. Google tells the app that Pro was bought so it can be restored on your devices. We never receive your payment details.
Web hosting
The web app is served by Cloudflare, which processes standard request data (such as your IP address) to deliver the site securely. See our website privacy page.
Feedback you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you send. We use it only to reply and to fix problems, and we delete it when it is no longer needed.
Children
Stubby is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13.
Data retention and deletion
Data on your device stays there until you delete it, clear the app's data or uninstall Stubby. Data in your Google Drive stays there until you delete it as described above. Using Settings › Delete everything while signed in removes both.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including the UK and EU), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. Because your Stubby data is held by you and Google rather than by us, you can manage it directly as described above. We only hold emails you send us. In the UK you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date, and the Google Play data safety information will be updated to match.
